12.  Photographing the ice bubbles at Abraham Lake west of Nordegg, once the lake freezes.

View this post on Instagram

The ice bubbles on Abraham Lake have become a very popular destination for photographers from all over the world. Here are a few words of advice about coming to Abraham Lake: – Usually the lake is not frozen until late December. – The wind that keeps the snow cleared off the ice is also very cold. Please dress appropriately. – Ice crampons are recommended. – Please don’t leave garbage or bonfire waste on the ice. This ruins the view for others. Take garbage home. – The lake is a manmade reservoir and the Bighorn Dam lets water out all winter. This means the water level drops creating ice upheavals which can make climbing back up to the shoreline difficult. – There are tour guides and local cabins in the Nordegg area that know the lake well. Using their expertise can help your ice bubble tour be a safe and successful one. – The David Thompson Country website has a listing of tour guides and hotels/cabins that can help you enjoy Abraham Lake, Crescent Falls and Siffleur Falls even more. https://davidthompsoncountry.ca/ #dtcountry #nordegg #abrahamlake #ClearwaterCnty #icebubbles #albertaadventures #yycadventures #yegadventures #albertamountains #albertalakes #albertawinters #alberta #canada #explorecanada #explorealberta #explorecentralalberta #travelalberta #davidthompsonhighway
